Mercy Corps Projects and Charity Work
CNCF Projects and Charity Work
Mercy Corps are involved in many projects throughout the world. These range from Health and Social to Educational schemes aimed at improving the lives of less fortunate people. They have been directly involved in school improvements including provision of nutritional meals, unemployement reduction in rural areas, improving communities by renovating communal spaces such as parks and combating alcoholism (a large problem amongst the youth in Mongolia). Other schemes that they are involved in include a project in Kosovo where they are trying to bring together under educated youths from diverse communities. A scheme in Tuzla, a heavily polluted city in Bosnia, converts frying oil into biofuel helping to lower the CO2 emmisions and improve the environment. www.mercycorps.org.uk
The main goal of the Christina Noble Childrens Foundation is to reach out to impoverished children across Asia. They have many schemes in Mongolia such as a scheme called the "Sunshine Ger Village Project" where street children and orphans are taken care of in a group of traditional huts called gers. They also have a successful sponsorship program that aids children who are at risk of dropping out of school due to poverty or who are at risk because of a family break down. CNCF were responsible for completely renovating a pediatric wing of a hospital in UllanBaatar which provides free healthcare to people without money or health insurance. More information can be found at www.cncf.org
The rally's main purpose is not to let a bunch of idiots run riot all the way to Mongolia, although that is envitable, but to provide charities with much needed cash to assist the many projects that reach out to people in poverty and find themselves in difficult circumstances. The rally has three main charities that will benefit from cash raised by participants, only two of which have so far been announced, these being Mercy Corps and the Christina Noble Childrens Foundation. These will be the two charities that our team be raising cash for. We need to raise a minimum of £1000 but we are hoping that businesses, friends and family will be able to help us acheive a much higher total.
